​Far Corners Community Musical Theatre seeks an adventurous, flexible and passionate educator with significant experience teaching music or theatre to lead its one-of-a-kind summer musical theatre program in rural Monteverde Costa Rica.

This is a full time seasonal position. Applicant must be available to be on-site in Costa Rica from June 14 - August 12, 2015.

About the Program: 
Musical Theatre Connections: Costa Rica is an 8-week summer program for teens, now in its seventh year of operation. The primary focus of the program is producing a musical from the canon with a cast and crew of local Costa Rican teens, and a production staff of college-aged interns from both the U.S. and Costa Rica. The goal of the program is to provide a high-quality educational experience for the participants, fostering their artistic and personal development.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in education, theatre, music or related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in formal and/or informal educational settings (5+ years preferred)
• Experience leading and/or supervising college students or other adults
• Conversational Spanish, or commitment to learn by June 2015 (advanced Spanish ability preferred)
• Experience coordinating theatrical productions
• Exceptional flexibility and creative problem solving skills
• Experience interacting extensively with individuals from different cultural backgrounds
• Strong ability to give and receive constructive criticism
• Passion for educating the whole person through music and theatre
• Ability to work long days in a fast-paced, intensive environment
• High level of self-awareness

Job Duties:

• Oversee all aspects of the program on site and ensure the safety and well-being of teen participants and college interns.
• Supervise 4-6 college interns, including the stage director, music director, choreographer, and assistant producer; regularly observe their work and provide feedback and guidance.
• Continually guide staff to implement the program in accordance with the mission of FCCMT.
• Act as Producer of the musical theatre production.
• Engage with members of the Monteverde community.
• Oversee all program purchases within an established budget; track income.
• Assist in planning and preparation for summer program; approximately 1-2 hours per week April through early June.
• Keep thorough digital records.
• Communicate regularly with off-site supervisor.

Compensation:
The program director will receive round-trip airfare to San Jose, Costa Rica, all work-related transportation with in Costa Rica, and a stipend to cover food and housing while in Costa Rica. Additional stipend may be available.
